Hi inno-teachers!
Today I want to share with you a great experience we had last 4th of May. My classmates and I were invited to be presenters at MM10, an online worldwide event for teachers. MM10 (or Moodle Mooc 10) is a series of online conferences about different topics regarding education that are taking place from 1st of May until 4th of June 2017. The purpose of the MOOC is to connect teachers around the world in order to exchange knowledge, experiences and practicies with or without technology in the classroom.
Our class took place on Thursday May 4th at 16h at WizIQ and its title was Open Educational Digital Projects for CLIL Primary Education.
Since our teacher in this Master's module told us that we were going to participate in an online worldwide event, we started to work very hard. These are the steps we followed so as to prepare the conference:
First thing we did was to draft, individually, our speech for the online conference day. We had to talk about our experience in this Master's module and the steps we have followed along the four months to create our learning diary in five minutes. Firstly, I wrote down some basic concepts that I wanted to mention, and then I wrote the whole speech in Google Drive. Moreover, I uploaded it to Slideshare:
After writing our speech, we designed our single support slide for our live class to the class collection at this presentation in Google Drive. I included my name, some data about me, the title of my project, the link of my blog and the titles of all the posts that I have created during the whole year. Our teacher uploaded it to Slideshare and here it is for all of you:
Once all of us had something prepared (the draft of our speech and our slides), we decided to rehearse the talk. On the 27th of April, we connected together (each one at our own home computer) using this practice area. This area was free for us to practice and check if everybody could hear and see us properly. Our teacher María Jesús recommended us to have a pair of headphones with a microphone in order to do a good speech.

Finally, on the 4th May we connected from our home so as to present our collaborative live class here. It was a great experience since we had the opportunity to share our knowledge with other teachers around the world. There were people from the five continents, it was amazing! Here is a screenshot of the conference day:

Furthermore, our conference is uploaded to YouTube. You can see it again here:
As I have stated above, it was an incredible experience. It is true that I felt so nervous when the conference began; but, when my turn arrived, I was more relaxed. I also enjoyed the role that we had in the chat box. We, the rest of the classmates that were not participating at that moment, acted as community managers sharing the URLs of the presenter learning diary, his/her posts and his/her Twitter account. At the same time, we were posting Twits using the two official hastags: #moodlemooc10 and #ictclil_urjc
REFLECTION ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
All in all, being a member of #moodlemooc10 has been a wonderful opportunity. Personally, I think that taking part in this conference has opened my eyes to see that other ways of education are possible by the use of ICT in the classrooms. Moreover, this conference made me realize the kind of theacher that I want to be in a near future. Creativity, innovation, motivation and passion are the key words that, for me, define a perfect teacher of the 21st century.
From my point of view, online conferences are a great tool in order to share knowledge with the whole world. Probably, a teacher in New York is interested in the job you do. So, share it! Share the knowledge you have (and you also will acquire new knowledge, too)!
It was also very interesting to hear my classmates' presentations. I have to admit that I have learnt a lot from the work that they have made during this Master's module. It was incredible to see how much my mates have worked and the brilliant artifacts that they have created. After finishing the conference, I felt very proud of being part of such an important event. I hope it is not the first time I can join a MOOC.
REFLECTION ABOUT THE ICT SUBJECT
Finally, I would like to talk a little bit about this Master's module and all the new resources and techniques that I have learnt for my future teaching practice. We all know that ICT are time consuming and, after doing this subject, I have to affirm that the statement is true. Yes, ICT are time consuming. But ICT are also very rewarding. Digital competence is one of the core competences that our students should acquire during their academic life. We, as teachers must also be competent at this ability.
Probably, when you start to incorporate ICT into your lessons you will see that, as I have already said, they are very time consuming. Moreover, you will appreciate that a task that you have been prapairing during hours and hours only takes ten minutes for your students to solve it. At the beginning it can be a little bit complicated, but when you discover all the advantages that the incorporation of these technologies in the classroom has, I can assure you that you will see how your work has been worthwhile.
This is the same feeling that I have experienced during this subject. It was a lot of work to do; but, at the same time, I have learnt a lot of new resources that I am sure I will apply in my future teaching practice.
Don't miss my next post! I will talk about this super experience more in detail.
See you soon, inno-teachers!
